The diagnosis of work incapacity is based on the classification used by the occupational health and safety and social insurance organisations. The ten main classes of illness are:

• Diseases of the nervous system, eyes and ears
• Cardiovascular diseases and blood disorders
• Respiratory diseases
• Metabolic diseases
• Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue
• Diseases of the genito-urinary system
• Pregnancy and childbirth
