Recovery in investments expected
Dutch industrial entrepreneurs expect a 14 percent increase on their investment of 2005. This means a continuation of the recovery that started in 2005, when they invested almost 9 percent more than in 2004. The positive expectations for 2006 are carried by all branches of industry according to the latest preliminary figures by Statistics Netherlands.
Optimism in metal and electrical machinery and equipment
Dutch entrepreneurs in metal and electrical machinery and equipment are most positive. In 2006 they expect about a 26 percent increase in investments on 2005. All other branches of industry are positive without exception.
The entrepreneurs in mining and quarrying also have positive expectations about investments in 2006. In this sector the entrepreneurs expect an increase of more than 50 percent.
Companies often adjust their expectations about investments in the course of the year because of speeding up, delays or cancellations.
