Volume of goods exports 9 percent higher in December
In December 2005 the export volume, adjusted for working day effects, was 9 percent higher than in December 2004. The growth of export volume was higher than average in 2005.
The volume of imports of goods was more than 7 percent higher than twelve months previously. The growth rate of import volume, adjusted for working day patterns, was slightly higher than the average growth in 2005.
Exports of goods, in terms of values and adjusted for working day effects, was 16 percent up in December. The value of imports of goods was more than 14 percent higher than twelve months previously. Import and Export prices were respectively 7 and 6 percent higher than in the same period a year before.
The increase in exports was largely based on re-exports of goods produced outside the Netherlands; goods produced in China, Taiwan or the US, for example, are distributed through the Netherlands after only little further processing. The increase in exports of products manufactured in the Netherlands was limited in comparison.
