Exports to Turkey up by 20 percent
In 2003 Dutch exports to Turkey amounted to nearly 2 billion euro, a 20 percent rise on 2002. Imports from Turkey rose by more than 11 percent reaching 1.3 billion euro. For the sake of comparison: the total value of Dutch imports and exports in 2003 was almost equal to 2002.

Exports: irregular pattern
Exports to Turkey showed an irregular pattern. A nearly 40 percent increase in exports in 2000 was followed by a drop by almost 30 percent in 2001.
In 2002 and 2003, on the other hand, exports to Turkey rose substantially and almost reached the level of 2000.
Imports from Turkey
Clothes make up half of imports
Imports from Turkey were more stable. In the period 1999-2003, the value of imports rose from 1 billion to 1.3 billion euro. Clothes made up almost half of the imports from Turkey. The share of clothes in total imports from Turkey is still increasing.
