Indirect standardization equates the age distribution of women of childbearing age (15 to 50 years) in a region with that of the Caribbean Netherlands as a whole. This eliminates the effects of, for example, a relatively large number of women of the most fertile or least fertile age. The standardized figure makes it easier to compare regions.

The age of the mother on 31 December since the birth of her child.
Calculated as the year of birth of the child minus the year of birth of the mother. - Average number of children per female

This figure can be interpreted as the average number of children a woman would have if the age-specific fertility rates in a given year were to apply throughout her life.
Age specific fertility rate:
The number of live-born children born by women of a particular age group in a given period related to the average number of women in that age group and period.
