Table explanation
This table presents an overview of the occupancy of accommodation and the number of guests and their overnight stays in the Netherlands in all hotels, motels, boarding houses, apartments with hotel services, youth accommodation and bed & breakfasts with at least 5 sleeping places, campsites with at least 4 pitches and holiday parks and group accommodation with at least 10 sleeping places. The figures can be broken down by type of accommodation.

Status of the figures:
The figures for 2024 are provisional and all other figures are final.
Changes as of 11 December 2024:
The provisional figures for October 2024 have been added.
When will new figures be published?
Figures of a new month become available within three months after the end of that month, these are provisional figures. The figures for the complete year are revised one month after publication of the December figures, these are revised provisional figures. Two months later definite figures will be published.
Description topics
- Hotel/boarding house/youth hostel
- Hotel, motel, boarding house, apartment with hotel services, youth accommodation or bed & breakfast.
Hotel:
Tourist accommodation with at least 5 beds (usually in single or double rooms) on a night-to-night basis. Separate meals, snacks and drinks may be provided to guests as well as non-guests. A guest is someone who spends the night in the establishment. Other services provided are room service, daily bed-making and cleaning of sanitary facilities.
Motel:
Tourist accommodation at least 5 beds in with terraced rooms giving access to a car park place or common area, for guest accommodation on a night-to-night basis.
Boarding house:
Tourist accommodation with at least 5 beds (usually in single or double rooms) on a night-to-night basis. Separate meals, snacks and drinks can be provided only to guests who spent the night..
A threshold of at least 5 sleeping places is used.
Apartment with hotel services:
Apartment with at least 5 beds, providing cleaning and bed-making services during a stay
Youth accommodation:
Youth hotels and hostels with at least 5 beds.
A youth hotel is a hotel mainly for young guests providing sleeping facilities which do not have to be shared with others.
A youth hostel is an accommodation mainly for young guests providing sleeping facilities in dormitories that may have to be shared with others.
Bed & breakfast:
Private house with at least 5 beds for guests who can stay overnight and are given breakfast.- Guests
- A guest is a visitor who spends one or more consecutive nights in tourist accommodation. Guests do not include visitors who stay for more than two months. Asylum seekers and labour migrants are not included, even if they stay in accommodation for less than two months. Every month all tourists leaving in that month are counted, irrespective of the month in which they arrived. The same person may be counted more than once in the same accommodation or in different accommodation.

For example, the number of nights spent in March amounts to 1800 overnight stays and the number of sleeping places in the open accommodations is 150.
The (net) occupancy rate in March is 1 800/(31 x 150), expressed as a percentage this results to 39%.
- Leisure accommodation
- Campsites, holiday parks and group accommodation.
Campsite:
A campsite is an area where people can stay overnight in tents, touring and on-site caravans, camper vans and cabins.
A threshold of at least 4 camping pitches is used.
Holiday park:
An area with, holiday homes, cottages or apartments which are mainly rented out by the park management
Apartments with hotel services, are not included in holiday parks, but in hotels.
Apartments rented without hotel services, which are often part of a larger building, are included in holiday parks.
A threshold of at least 10 beds is used.
Group accommodation:
