How will the SBI revision affect the registration of companies with the Chamber of Commerce?
The SBI revision involves merging, subdividing or resequencing a number of SBI codes. In addition, codes that currently consist of four levels will be given a fifth level by adding a zero. As a result, many companies will be assigned a different SBI code. This will have no effect on a company’s activities.
That said, the Chamber of Commerce advises companies to check the Dutch Commercial Register to make sure that their activities are still correctly listed. They also advise companies to take stock of whether and how they use the SBI code. The SBI revision may result in changes to a company’s business processes and/or systems. For example, it may have implications for how the customer database is managed.
