Natural capital accounts for the Dutch North Sea 2019

This report shows for the Dutch North Sea area the physical natural capital accounts according to the SEEA EEA framework.

This report presents the first natural capital accounts for the Dutch North Sea area. Natural capital accounts show the extent and condition of ecosystems of the North Sea. Additionally, this report presents ecosystem services provided by these ecosystems (in physical terms). An ecosystem service is the contribution of ecosystems to the economic production and consumption by society.

The natural capital accounts presented in this report are developed using the framework of the UN, the SEEA EEA. The project was carried on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat/ Dutch Ministry for Infrastructure and Water Management. This report is part of the natural capital accounts of the Netherlands.
