Accounting for goods and for bads: measuring environmental pressure in a national accounts framework
Mark de Haan’s PhD thesis deals with the description of environmental economic interactions in the system of national accounts. It examines how national accounts definitions contribute to a consistent and exhaustive registration of pollution of an economy. Supplementary analyses show the effect of economic growth, efficiency gains and economic structure shifts on the development of environmental pollution in time.
