No collection of personal data through anonymization of IP addresses

All websites collect visitors' IP addresses, and so does www.cbs.nl. These are stored in so-called log files, which are kept for 90 days for security reasons only. They are also viewed for that purpose only.

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) has taken measures to minimise the traceability of visitors to www.cbs.nl, by having Piwik immediately discard the last 2 octets (groups of 8 digits) of each IP address.

After this, personal data are no longer processed. CBS thus complies with the rules for processing personal data pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulation.
