For example, over the past few years CBS has successfully worked on improving the consumer price index (CPI) by using transaction data from payment systems in calculating indices. For this, CBS uses data from supermarkets, DIY, chemist and clothing shops, among others. The latest applications are mainly in the area of automatically processing large amounts of text, for example on websites or in annual reports.
