125 years of reliable statistics

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Since 1899, CBS has been the principal supplier of trustworthy, unbiased statistics in and about the Netherlands. We are truly proud of that: people need facts about what is happening in society to make the right decisions. This is how statistics contributes to day-to-day practicalities, policymaking and scientific research.

A good example of how CBS has been providing reliable statistics over the years is illustrated in the timeline presenting the developments related to the population census in recent decades.

In the course of this year, several corporate articles and timelines will be published on the importance of 125 years of reliable statistics.
