Retail trade nearly 4 percent up
Dutch retail turnover in February 2007 was 3.6 percent up on the same month last year. Retailers sold more products. The volume of turnover was 2.7 percent larger than in February last year, while prices were 0.9 percent higher. The turnover of mail order companies and other on-line retailers was nearly 10 percent higher. Shops in both the food and the non-food sector also booked higher turnovers.
Hefty turnover increase for non-food
Shops in the non-food sector realised 4.8 percent more turnover in February than twelve months previously. They sold 4 percent more, at prices that were 1 percent higher.
Clothes shops realised the largest growth. Their turnover rose by 10 percent. The textile supermarkets were the only shops in the non-food sector to have a lower turnover than in February last year.
Food shops also increase turnover
Shops selling food, drink and tobacco booked 2 percent more turnover than in February last year. Both prices and sales increased. Supermarket turnover was 2.8 percent up on twelve months previously.
