Dealing with uncertainty in population forecasting
Joop de BeerJune 2000Abstract: The uncertainty of forecasts of the size and age structure of the population at the national level depends on the uncertainty of forecasts of fertility, mortality, and international migration. Appropriate demographic parameters to be forecasted are selected on the basis of demographic analyses aimed to identify parameters that are stable through time or change in a systematic way or have a stable relationship with selected explanatory variables.
