Eurostat

The figures are from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. They were published in "Early school leavers by gender” on 20 November 2009.
The figures for this publication were supplied by the national statistical institutes of the EU member states. For the Netherlands they were supplied by Statistics Netherlands. The figures published by Eurostat differ from those published by Statistics Netherlands. According to Eurostat the percentage of early school leavers in the Netherlands was 11.4 percent in 2008. Statistics Netherlands’ figure is 13.1 percent. The reason for this is that Eurostat has a broader definition of persons in education, which includes more courses and training schemes by which people can obtain a basic qualification. In addition, Eurostat uses a different weighting scheme than Statistics Netherlands. For more information about the table, see the Eurostat website.
