NA/49 Quality assessment of macro-economic figures: The Dutch Quarterly Flash

Reininga, Ted, Gerrit Zijlmans and Ron Janssen (1992).Since 1989-IV, the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics has made preliminary estimates of quarterly macro-economic figures at about 8 weeks after the end of the reference quarter. Since 1991-II, a preliminary or "Flash" estimate of GDP has been published. The decision to do so was based on a study comparing the Flash estimates and the regular Quarterly Accounts figures, which have a 17-week delay. This paper reports on a similar study with figures through 1991-III.
