Socio-economic value

The value derived from nature based on the ecosystem services provided to us by the natural environment makes a direct contribution to our economy and society.

These services include the benefits enjoyed by businesses for their production processes, as well as benefits enjoyed by individual citizens, such as clean air or the opportunity to spend time in nature.

The value of socio-economic benefits represents only one aspect of nature's value. It is important to look at other value aspects of ecosystems as well. Examples include non-use values and intrinsic value (nature for its own sake). However, these values are difficult to measure directly.
