The nutrition score is the average of seven component scores for persons aged 12 years or older. A component score was calculated for each food aspect, namely for vegetables, fruits, drinks containing sugar, meat/fish/vegetarian, wholemeat, unhealthy snacks and alcohol. Children under the age of 12 are not asked questions about alcohol consumption, and therefore for them the nutrition score is the average of six component scores. The calculation of the different component scores is explained in more detail in chapter 5 of the report entitled Nutrition in the Health Survey.
