In order to comply with the 2017 physical activity guidelines, young people aged 4 to 17 years should engage in activities of moderate intensity, such as walking or cycling, at least one hour per day and in muscle and bone-strengthening activities at least three times per week. Persons aged 18 and over should engage in activities of moderate intensity for at least 2.5 hours per week, spread over several different days, and in muscle and bone-strengthening activities at least twice per week.
