Green crop protection

Crop protection products may be classified as green. Manufacturers have developed an indicator for green crop protection, which includes substances that: (a) are of natural origin (e.g. micro-organisms, plant extracts); (b) are substances in products which are on the input list of certified organic cultivation (Skal certification); and (c) are low-risk substances according to the EU. The indicator is applied to sales data of these manufacturers and is still under development.

To give an idea of the extent of use they involve, a selection of substances has been made by CBS which is included under sources.It is important to note that agents based on paraffin oil are on the input list for organic agriculture and are thus classified as ‘green’.
