55 bankruptcies in week 47

In week 47, 55 companies and institutions including sole proprietorships were declared bankrupt, as reported by Statistics Netherlands (CBS). This is 15 more than in week 46. In the first 47 weeks of 2020, altogether 2,966 bankruptcies were pronounced among companies and institutions in the Netherlands. This is 438 down on the same period in 2019.

Throughout the coronavirus crisis, CBS is providing weekly updates on the number of bankruptcies pronounced by Dutch courts. The weekly updates are normally released on Thursdays at 12.00 p.m.

Not including sole proprietorships, there were 46 bankruptcies in week 47, 14 more than in week 46. In addition, 9 sole proprietorships were declared bankrupt, 1 more than in the previous week.

This is 4 up on the previous week. Furthermore, 6 companies were declared bankrupt in each of the following sectors: manufacturing, construction and financial services. This is 4 more in manufacturing, 1 fewer in construction and 2 fewer in financial services compared to week 46.
