Core inflation – Is this term used by CBS?
The concept of core inflation is viewed differently internationally. Different parties have different definitions of core inflation. As there is no single definition, CBS does not use this term.
CBS publishes several consumer price index series that could be used. Of these series, two series are close to what is used outside CBS as core inflation: the series Consumer Price Index excluding energy, food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco (SA20) and the series Consumer Price Index excluding energy and unprocessed food (SA21). These series are available in the CPI as special aggregates.
For developments of the SA20 and SA21 special aggregates in the consumer price index table, see.
