As part of its research programme Statistics Netherlands has derived a network of the entire Dutch population. It contains relationships between the 17 million inhabitants of the Netherlands and consists of five so called layers (main types of relations): family, household, neighbours, work and school. Combined these layers contain over 1.4 billion relationships. This paper describes the methods used to derive the network and will give an overview of some of its properties.
