Unemployment further up
Seasonally adjusted unemployment in the Netherlands was 421 thousand in August, i.e. 8 thousand above the level in the preceding month. August was the second month in a row, in which unemployment increased. In July, unemployment had risen by 22 thousand.
Unemployment only rose in the 25-44 age category in August. In the other age categories, unemployment hardly changed. Female unemployment rose more rapidly than male unemployment.
The unemployment rate in the Dutch labour force was 5.4 percent in August. With 5.2 percent, the rate among men was lower than among women (5.7 percent).
